The Timken Company

OBJECTIVES: Timken Bearing Inspection, Inc., a leading manufacturer of bearings for aviation and aerospace, decided to promote its products at several key trade shows. The company required a graphics-rich premium exhibit with multiple conference rooms and product displays.

SOLUTIONS: Four conference rooms, seating four, were created using lightweight aluminum extrusions and acrylic. See-through wall panels were decorated with frosted transparency graphics. With graphics equally impressive when viewed from either side, Timken’s branding efforts were doubled without doubling the graphics costs. The conference rooms also included a lighting ring specially fabricated to resemble bearings, as well as a 30”x 40” light-box.

Two rolling walk-around displays showcased Timken products. Bearings were specially mounted to create a “floating” effect. Light-boxes and 42” plasma televisions were also used.

A lounge-like environment was created at the edge of the exhibit using internally-lit white information counters, sleek white furniture, and two smaller display cabinets with glass tops displaying Timken’s larger bearings. An overhead 20’ diameter sign, fully wrapped in graphics, increased the exhibit’s visibility amongst competitive signage. On the carpet below, a circular 20’ orange inlay further branded the exhibit.

RESULTS: The exhibit came in at a far lower weight than comparable exhibits, required minimal labor, and was assembled within twenty-four man-hours. Thus, the cost of the exhibit was reduced by as much as a third, and Timken was able to use it to complete its lengthy event-marketing itinerary. Partially due to the high visibility achieved by the hanging circular sign, the exhibit attracted higher than expected numbers of visitors and was enthusiastically received by both attendees and Timken corporate staff.
