Turntable Works grew from what is now called MDS Exhibits. The exhibit company began using other manufacturers' automobile turntables for its clients' auto show programs during the 1970's. It quickly learned that conventional steel automobile turntables were difficult to manage and excessively heavy for exhibit use, requiring a forklift to set-in-place and needlessly inflating labor, shipping, and drayage costs. To provide more value to its clients, the company crafted its first aluminum-based turntables in 1983. This new generation of products was significantly lighter and easier to manage and provided clients with substantial cash savings. Today, Turntable Works' signature turntable products -- The Lowboy, the Hubless Wonder and the Standard -- as well as its premium purpose built turntables, have set a new industry standard. The company's rotating platforms are featured at trade and consumer shows, in museums, and at retail outlets nationwide, and have been used by a long list of fortune 500 corporations, including: General Motors, American Suzuki Motor Corporation, Hyundai Motor America, and The Boeing Company.
